Short answer

To leave a Google review, sign in to your free Google account, search the business on Google or Google Maps, open its listing and tap Reviews, then choose a star rating, write a few words and tap Post. It takes under a minute, works on phone or computer, and you can edit or delete the review later.

Reviews are how most people decide who to call, so leaving one genuinely helps a business — and other customers. The steps are quick once you know where to look. You'll need to be signed in to a Google account first; any free Gmail address works.

How to leave a Google review on your phone

  1. Open the Google app or Google Maps and make sure you're signed in.
  2. Search the exact business name(add the town if there's more than one) and tap its listing.
  3. Tap Reviews, then the row of stars to open the review box.
  4. Pick your star rating, write a sentence or two about your experience, and tap Post.

How to leave a Google review on a computer

  1. Go to google.com or google.com/maps and sign in (top-right).
  2. Search the business name so its listing panel appears.
  3. In the panel on the right, click “Write a review”.
  4. Choose your stars, add your comment, and click Post.

No app needed

You can review straight from a phone browser too — search the business on google.com, open the listing, and the same Reviews section appears. The app just makes it a tap or two quicker.

Do you need a Google account?

Yes. Google requires a free account so reviews are tied to a real profile — it's one of the ways it keeps out fakes. Your name and profile photoshow on the review, so reviews aren't anonymous. If you don't have an account, creating one with any email takes about a minute.

How to edit or delete a review you left

Changed your mind or made a typo? Open Google Maps, tap your profile picture, choose “Your contributions” then Reviews, find the review and use the three-dot menuto edit or delete it. If you're a business owner trying to remove someone else's unfair review, that's a different process — here's how to report and remove a Google review.

For business owners: make it one tap

Most customers are happy to review you — they just get lost searching for your listing. The fix is to hand them a direct review linkthat opens the review box on your profile with a single tap, so there's no searching at all.
